2024 McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative Fellows (Smart Insecticide )

The project aims to develop a smart biopesticide targeting caterpillar pests by exploiting their unique, highly alkaline gut pH, unlike mammals and beneficial insects like honeybees. Saji George is the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Nanotechnology for Food and Agriculture under the NSERC Tier 2 program (Renewal).

Dr. Saji George, an Associate Professor at McGill University, emphasized the impact of the summit in fostering collaboration and advancing sustainable agriculture. He highlighted that the event provided a platform to identify and develop strategic priorities of mutual interest while expanding professional networks and establishing potential partnerships for collaborative research projects.
